MARGOSA TREE

 

This tree is called KOHOMBA in Sinhala Language and the botanical name is "Melia azadirachte/Azadirachte indica". We can see the Kohomba tree in dry zone in Sri Lanka.  This tree is mainly used to make herbal items in Aurwedic medicine.  This tree is most famous to cure skin inspection among the Sri Lankan people as well as use to make beauty culture items like soap, perfume etc.  

After the experiment we found that the colour of this tree is very nice to colouring.  The colour of this tree is like wine red.  We have created many items using KOHOMBA coloured cloths to the market recently.

Mrs. Wjitha has a born talent to hand sew any kind of dresses and she is working hard to develop the somekobo items creatively. 

Mrs. Renuka Wickramarachchi

Mrs. Renuka also working hardly to somekobo project, giving her knowledge to sew using sewing matching to create the items which are designed by Mr. Wasantha.  And she is helping to cultivate agree product around the land.

Mr. Wasantha Herath, The co-ordinator of the Somekobo project is a qualified Art and Sculpture Designer.  At the same time he is teaching Art subject to the Girls at Sputnik Girl's home since 2008 and he has 09 years hands on experience and gain knowledge in this subject.  Mr. Wasantha is planing to create various kind of new products to the market through this Eco friendly project, and now a days, he is doing experiment to find natural colours using used tea and other materiel to painting purpose.

                                There white cloths are arranged for coloring by cutting few pieces.  

NEW PRODUCT

This Table Cloth and the Serviette set were created recently using waste tea as colouring agent.  Those are suitable to used in hotels as well as the domestic purposes.
